Q: What happens at a physiotherapy appointment?

It is an initial 30 minute appointment which includes:

  • Extensive assessment of the injury
  • Detailed diagnosis with comprehensive explanation of your injury symptoms.
  • Appropriate therapies are applied such as hands on treatment, ultrasound, dry needling and exercise rehab
  • A management plan is prescribed concentrating on achieving your individual goals

Q: Do I need a referral?

You do not need a referral to have your well-being assessed by one of our physiotherapists. Only clients that are under Work Cover or EPC will require a doctor's referral. If you are referred to ProPhysio+, please bring your referral letters, paperwork, scans etc to your appointment along with the contact details of the GP or specialist that referred you.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?

Cancellations can be made 12 hours in advance of any pre-booked appointments by calling (03) 8360 5359 or at reception. Cancellation notice outside these parameters will incur a cancellation fee of 50% of the scheduled fee. Email cancellations are not accepted.

Q: Does ProPhysio+ treat Work Cover and TAC clients?

ProPhysio+ has extensive experience treating Work Cover and TAC clients. Please inform our receptionist of your intention to claim. Make sure to bring documentation of your claim number, date of injury, and the relevant employer / insurer details including contact name, address and phone number. Due to the extensive administrative requirements of the workers compensation system, our company policy is that payment is required at the time of the consultation and then claim the costs back from your insurer.

Q: Do I need to make an appointment?

Yes, we require your appointment to be booked in advance. When booking, please let the receptionist know:

  • If you have been referred and by whom
  • The region of your body requiring treatment
  • If you injury is to be treated under a current claim, such as WorkSafe, TAC or EPC
  • Any other special requirements needed

Q: What should I bring to my appointment?

Please arrive to your appointment 10 minutes prior to allow time for registration. Please bring any referral letters, scans, or reports relevant to your injury. The more information the physiotherapists have about your injury, the better they can assist with your recovery.

If you are covered with WorkSafe, TAC or an EPC referral, please bring all the relevant documentation. If you wish to claim private health insurance, bring along your HICAPS card to claim your rebate on the spot.

Q: What should I wear to my appointment?

We suggest wearing loose fitting clothing in which you can move freely and feel comfortable. We recommend wearing regular runners or shoes with proper support. At ProPhysio+ we want to make sure you feel comfortable and supported.

Q: Does Medicare cover ProPhysio+ services?

Unfortunately you cannot claim a Medicare rebate for most physiotherapy appointments. However, under the special care program known as an Enhanced Primary Care program (EPC), you can be referred by your GP for up to five (5) physiotherapy sessions each calender year.

At each Medicare EPC appointment you are bulk billed so there are no out of pocket expenses for your physiotherapy treatment.

Q: Can I claim my private health insurance rebate at my appointment?

You can claim your private health insurance rebate through HICAPS at the time of your appointment only after a service has been received. The amount of your rebate can vary according to the fund you are in, your level of cover, and your claims over the last financial year. We recommend you talk to your fund about your “physiotherapy extras cover”.

Q: What is your payment policy?

We require payment at the time of your appointment by either Cash, Eftpos, Visa or Mastercard.

Q: Do you accept EPC / Medicare referrals?

Yes! To claim your EPC / Medicare referral, please bring in your paperwork from your referring doctor. For these appointments we cannot claim your private health through HICAPS.

Q: What is the cost of my appointment?

All initial/new appointments are 30 minutes and are $70. Review/follow up appointments are 20 minutes and $60. Immediate rebates are available via our Hicaps terminal.
