Leki’s Health Vlog – Episode 2

Howdy guys.

I have made it my goal to “Make Healthy Simple”.

Part of that is sharing my own effort to keep healthy simple in my daily life.

If you missed it – check out the first episode on this – HERE.

So I plan to update regularly on all the different social channels on everyday things I try and do to maintain my health.

I’ve broken it down to bite sized chunks:

  1.  FOOD/WATER
  2. AIR/EXERCISE
  3. PHYSIO/CLINICAL

FOOD/WATER

I’ve been big on food choices for the last 3 years or so.

What I have on my plate helps to keep healthy. Fortunately my wife helps a lot with keeping me in check and accountable and we’ve both had great health since our decision to pay attention.

We bulk prep food and it is very helpful in keeping things simple for you and your family. Check out this short video where we spend 2 hours every Sunday preparing our meals for the working week – HERE.

I have a 1.2L Camelbak aluminium bottle which you’ll always see me carry around. It’s filled with filtered water and I go through this bottle twice a day. Hydration is very important. I make a habit of sipping water throughout the day to keep me going.

My last interest in the Food/Water ‘theme’ is blood work. I’ll detail what my actual blood readings as I measure it daily to share with you how things are going internally.

Good health on the inside and outside!

AIR/EXERCISE

Something I’m big on is trying to be mindful of what I’m feeding my mind.

We all have challenges that sometimes get the best of us so how do you bounce back? Or you try and improve on something that’s not really happening for you. Sometimes you get disappointed in the results despite your best effort.

The way I practice mindfulness or meditation is by keeping a daily journal.

I find it helps contain those inner thoughts and feelings so you can go out and attack your day. I enter into my journal first thing in the morning and once it’s completed I then read my journal entry on the same day last year in 2017 and the same day in 2016.

Imagine the memories and your feelings when you realise how much things have changed in 1-2 years! It’s a great way to be appreciative of the things you have in your life! I highly recommend it!

In terms of Exercise I really enjoy Gymnastics Strength Training. I spend 30 mins daily following this online course which is easy for me to apply in my daily routine.

My goal is to be able to hold a handstand for 30 seconds with great form.

So why gymnastics? Well, our 3yo daughter Emelina is in our local gymnastics school and I would like to keep up with her and be the cool dad! The other reason is that the training philosophy is something I believe highly in! Small changes over time with disciplined effort. Gymnasts don’t wake up one day to perform the splits. They’ve trained years to get the most out of their bodies. That’s my goal too!

PHYSICAL/CLINICAL

My last ‘theme’ is centred on things that are physio or clinical related.

Interesting things like sporting teams I may be involved with. An interesting injury that I’m managing. A new rehabilitation protocol to follow to allow quicker recovery. New treatment options to assist rehabilitation.

My ultimate goal is to avoid chronic disease like type II diabetes, cardiovascular disease, stroke and cancer.

If I keep track of these 3 Pillars of Food/Water, Air/Exercise and Physio/Clinical I know that I’m doing the best that I can to keep myself in great health and awesome wellbeing.

Thanks for watching and enjoy the process!
