SPOTLIGHT ON – Kingzston Makua-Pori Pt.2

Hi guys,

This is an update on how Kingzston (an Iron Armour athlete) who broke his leg playing Rugby 7s on 12 September 2018.

Read up on Part 1 HERE to keep you in the loop!

Kingszton has been very good at following instructions.

He’s now 6 weeks after breaking the small shin bone (fibula) and is now completely out of the CAM boot.

A big part of his management plan was to control the amount of weight bearing load that he puts onto the broken leg.

In terms of the timeframe – from when he got injured until week 2 post injury Kingszton was resting in the CAM boot.

From week 2 to week 4 he was focussing on strengthening his leg and getting out of the CAM boot.

Over the last fortnight (week 4 to week 6) we started Kingzston on a running program to see how he goes with a measured running load.

Kingzston has been running comfortably and he has now returned to his Iron Armour training sessions and look forward to another successful season playing Rugby.

I hope this post shows you that although breaking your leg is a serious injury and a scary prospect.

With the right advice and early intervention you can be back up and running in no time!

Come and see us at ProPhysio to help get you back to your normal self.

Congratulations Kingzston! Keep enjoying your sport big fella.
