Why Checking Your Guts Is Important

Quick question – have you ever felt bloated or gassy everytime you eat a certain food?

These symptoms plus many more may be due to a condition called SIBO – Small Intestinal Bacterial Overgrowth (SIBO).

I spent a whole Saturday recently revising and updating my education on biochemistry and internal medicine on what happens when we eat and digest food.

What exactly is SIBO?
Too much bacteria finds a way into the small intestine and it causes symptoms.
Symptoms of SIBO can include –
- Bloating
- Abdominal pain
- Diarrhoea (hydrogen issues)
- Constipation (methane issues)
- Irritable bowel
- Inflammation (histamine reactions)
A great way to remedy SIBO is to consider –
- Short term Low-FODMAP food (Low inflammatory diet plan – I practice healthy ketogenic food strategy)
- Intermittent fasting
- Supplement (Glutathione, Zinc L-Carnosine, MotilPro)
- Antimicrobials – Garlic
- Antibiotics (Neomycin with Rifaximin)
- Apple cider vinegar
