Why Should I Think About Fasting?

Hi guys,

Have you ever heard of someone fasting (not eating) and you think to yourself – there’s NO WAY I could do that!

Me too!

Once upon a time I was skinny fat (long and lean body shape with a pot belly) and then I was outright overweight.

I wrote about the early days of my health journey – HERE.

A big part of my ongoing success is time restricted eating or fasting.

Without much preparation I started one day by deciding to action a 8:16 window of eating for the working week.

8 hour eating window and a 16 hour fasting window.

I would have breakfast at 7:30am, lunch at 12:30pm and my final meal was at 3:30pm. My three normal meals within the 8 hour window.

I admit it was tough, but if you read my story from the link above there was more emotional pain that drove me to be disciplined.

After a short period of time (1-3 months) my body started to adapt to the restricted window of eating.

I found that in the 8 hour window I wasn’t that hungry and decided to have only 2 meals – one at 12-1pm (lunch) and the other around 5-6pm (dinner).

This meant that I often skipped breakfast and my fasting window had changed from 8:16 to 6:18.

After 12-18 months of intermittent fasting my body adapted even more and now I was only needing one meal a day (OMAD) which was typically my lunch.

I’d eat my one big meal and that sustained me for the next 24 hours!

Now remember I would be very disciplined during the working week and so on the weekend I would have a couple naughty of meals and break my fast but I felt and continued to look great.

My goal is to improve my quality of life so I can grow old and die young at 150!

Yes you read that correctly – I am challenging myself to live my best LONG life and fasting is one of the key strategies to help me achieve that goal!

Keep things simple and be consistent.
